:) I finally have the Firebird frame sitting, in all its glory on 3 wheels, in my airport workshop. Beside it is a brand new Subaru engine and a Sub4 redrive with the prop under the engine crank line.

There is also dozens of laser cut 4130 bits for me to work out where they go to fit the control assembly, tail feathers, rudder pedals etc!!!!!!

Even I was beginning to think I was dreaming!!!!!

Aussie Paul.

Hi Paul, Good to hear the mechano set has arrived for your attention. Do you sell HS separately and if so what dimensions and how much. Hey I like the look of this forum though sad to see the demise of the old forum.

Pete

G'day John. You are so right. I am going to need a hand. Not quite ready for assembly but not far away.

The Oz "Revolution Rotors" 30' blades are back again after some tweaking.

I have only done 3 short flights in really rough air at this stage. I had to change back to the rotor head with the less that half-inch torque tube offset.

That is now completed but today is blowing a gale.

One thing that I am sure of after the few hours with them a few months ago and now these flights is that I have never seen blades lift this well.

Smooth as silk as well, and soooo light on the controls.

I am somewhere between 200 and 400 engine rpm less for the same weight with Raf blades. Time testing will narrow this down to a more meaningful number

During the next week I will be able to try them in various conditions training students.

Then comes the test of measuring the rotor disc angle compared to the other blades that I have access to. Sport copter 30', Raf tip and non-tip weighted 30', Oz extruded alloy 30', and of course these new design ones of 30'.

Aussie Paul.
