Rob and the Xenon have taken up residence at the Lansing Illinois airport, just south of Chicago near I-80 and the Illinois / Indiana state line.
Chuck Roberg is getting his hours right now and will be doing demo flights / instruction next in it next week.
The Xenon will be attending the Cape Girardeau, MO. airshow this weekend, for those of you in the area.

Saw the Xenon at Lansing today. All I can say is WOW! That gyro is in a class of its own. Should make for some excellent competition out there.

Rob flew the Xenon down to Cape Girardeau, MO. to attend an air show this weekend.
Rob took a tent and "camping supplies" with him to camp at the show. With temperatures near 100 degrees all weekend, I hope Rob camping supplies included a credit card and a Motel 6 directory.
The Xenon should return to Lansing on Monday so we can begin doing demo flights for our potential customers.

Chuck Roberg. Chuck was with me at Bensen Days and Sun 'N Fun this year.
Chuck was a SnoBird customer of mine many years ago, he bought a two place and did training as a BFI. He later earned his CFI gyroplane and Sport Pilot Instructor rating in fixed wings. Chuck is also helicopter rated and is a pretty good stick in the R-22.

Chuck is a great stick. We did some transition training last week.
His first landing was passable, 2nd one not bad and by the 3rd one they were pretty near perfect.
On the take-offs it took him about 5 tries to get them good.

The Xenon has been flying daily since it got here a week ago. Chuck Roberg has his 5 hours mandated by insurance requirements and Adam Helwich got an orientation flight the other day. Adam's flight was on a very windy day. He'll probably post about it here if he has any time. Adam has been working hard on his new Monster Gyro so he can fly it at Mentone.
We plan to give the R-22 crowd a shot at flying a gyro for the first time. The helicopter CFIs are looking forward to it. None has ever flown or been in a gyro before.

I got a demo flight and even a little stick time in the Xenon Tuesday. It was pretty gusty, but I still got a good feel for the machine. I'm used to my light 447 bee and I wasn't exactly sure what to expect when Rob gave me the controls. It didn't feel all that different from my gyro; I would say it felt lighter on the stick than the tandem SnoBird I trained in. I can say with 99% confidence that if Rob would have had a grabber that I would have been able to safely get us back to the runway.:) I look forward to getting some more time in it when it's time isn't at such a premium, right after my flight, Rob took up a family of 3 (one at a time of course).
