I took apart the RAF tail wheel to check the bearings and replace the tube and tire. There has got to be a better solution. The bearings were worn and the whole thing was light and cheap. So I am looking for a little better tire and bearing/wheel. I know it is not used much, but it still looks weak.
I was at Harbor Freight today in Lincoln. I found the same dang tire and wheel, except the tire was red for $6.95. The tire was extra cheap looking. That is the ultimate, buying gyro parts a Harbor Freight. I passed on this part.
The best buy at Harbor Freight is their 1/4" rivet gun. I have installed a few SS 1/4" rivets with 80 lbs of pressure. I had problem later pulling the rivets and call the tech line.
Solution; Pull the bottom plate off. Pull down the piston. Replace the bottom cover. Take out the fill screw at the top of the head. Fill with Marvel Mystery oil until full. My fluid level was not full, so I did not have a full stroke. You pull down the piston to prime the cylinder. The Marvel oil was their suggestion. Does not swell the rubbers.
