Hi Group,
Did a rapid disassembly of my SparrowHawk II earlier this week. Didn't have any experience taking off out of grass field. Was smooth lawn, and knew that grass takeoffs take a longer roll. Didn't realize how much longer until past the Point of No Return. Turned low to avoid a pond and slammed down hard. Took out all the expensive parts, blades, prop, tail, bent up some other stuff, no engine damage or injury. Just a severely deflated bank account. NEVER TAKE OFF FROM GRASS UNTIL YOU HAVE TRAINED YOURSELF BETTER THAN I WAS.

Mistakes are cheaper to learn from when somebody else makes them. It was my turn in the barrel.

Anybody got a set of SportCopter 30' blades and hub bar for SH II?

NO INJURIES.

That's good news.

Deflated bank account, man I feel for you. There are many things that can and will be said, all I have to say is, hind sight is 20/20.

Keep your head up.

Phil.

Thanks, Phil. I was a much better pilot climbing out of that machine than I was climbing in........

Major Bummer, Steve. Glad you're OK. You're not the first and you won't be the last. Good luck with your rebuild.

A real bummer, Steve.

Have faith.

Cheers :)

Steve,

Sorry about the damage and very glad you're OK. Thank's for being open and honest about what happened. Hopefully this will prevent someone else from making the same mistake.
