I heard, just today, that Modern Marvels(?) will be taping at Mentone during the convention.

This could be the big boost rotorcraft has dreamt about.

I also understand that there is a Mosquito helicopter coming to Mentone. It's a flying version and has one of the most amazing paint jobs I've ever seen. Something like 26 coats of hand rubbed paint............ it's awesome.

I watch Modern Marvels its a great show.
It would be wonderful if they could do the entire show on gyroplanes.

I think it would go over great, what with all the bike building and car building shows lately. Especially since there's going to be a gyro built during the convention.

We'll have to be on our best behavior; no fist fights or drunken brawls.

Then again maybe a little drama would be a good thing........it works for American Chopper.

Harry's right; if TV is going to be there it's probably a good bet the FAA will be there too.

...or dumb crashes that add momentum to the negative stereotype.

Does that mean all Sparrow hawks and RAFs have to stay home?

Maybe it would be nice if no one used the term "smoking hole" while the camera is around.

I see now that I'm going to have to put the miniguns on the gyro :~)

Yea! I have also have one ready to bolt on that has a pintol arm. we could put this on a two-place for a side/door gunner. I have about 100k of 6mm bbs and all you need is a face mask. We skirmish with these units with the velocity set about 450fps. We trained some K-9 units with the Strafer for less than lethal rolls. the videos are on U-tube. here are a couple.

here is the one we can use for sidegunner.

OK, that's scary! I was just thinking the same thing 2 days ago!

Anyone want to donate a truckload of watermelons and contact the "Gunnie" from "Mail Call"

:sorry: I'll behave now...

I hope Chuck B, Doug or someone who either can crunch the numbers or has experinece with this can answer.

VERY important question.

When dropping a watermellon from a tandem gyroplane's rear seat position, do you have to push it down fast so that it clears the pusher prop or can you just drop it and it will be fast enough to clear the prop???

we need to know.....

You should be able to just drop it. It weighs enough so it should fall down more than blow back.

Yes, it has whatever forward velocity the aircraft has, so will drop with a parabolic path. It is not the mass, though, that prevents it from blowing back.

You need a section of 12-inch PVC pipe sticking straight down with a bomb sight...

The flying group I belong to (Ironic due to the fact that I don't fly yet...) does a melon drop. I can't wait to get proficient enough to participate in it and show them what I gyro can do...

Verticle decent right over the target, drop all three melons, collect the prize.  :hail: :hail: :hail:

A bowling ball fell pretty much, straight down, from a Bensen. Through a roof, two floors and into a basement (uninhabited farmhouse).
Be careful with that deadly melon.
