Alright,

I'm asking for the input of the founding members here, in regard to the spelling of the forum name. *A couple people have pointed out that Rotory, should actually be spelled Rotary. *

After a little research, they are indeed correct, according to dictionary.com there is no such word as Rotory. *However in my defense, a google search of the word Rotory brings up a slew of sights. *Including a link to "Rotory Modeler" magazine. *I also fly RC helicopters and subscribe to this magazine. *I have no doubt that the spelling of Rotory came to me from these magazines. *

So, in the interest of fairness, how do you guys...and gals want it? *

Rotory
or
Rotary

Speak Now *:o *or *:-X

Thanks

Todd

Looks like I'm first.

It's really no big deal, although I did notice it when I signed in, and thought it a little strange.

If it was me, I would change it.

But that's just me.

Todd,

Based on your premise, I played with Google a little, and here are my thoughts. "Rotory" seems to have its origins in the UK, and the Bensen was inspired by the gyro-gliders with which the Royal Air Force experimented. Therefore, that spelling has merit.

On the other hand, I've always wanted to be a "Rotarian" without having to pay the dues or go to the lunches, so now I don't know.

Leaving it the way it is is probably easier, and the only people who get to vote have already found it. Perhaps it will be just fine the way it is!

Rotary, shoot if we can't spell what we do ... Did you go see some sights or go visit some sites? lol

Actually sites and search engines are set up to help people who mispell to reach intended info. Words that are often mispelled easily will often still get you where you want. Things are so bad though that you can type in a search for a specific item and still turn up sites (like sex/porn) that have nothing to do with your word typed. We try to narrow our search for something specific using the prescribed tool and yet it wants to churn out a bunch of crap to further sort through.

Glad to be onboard.

jtm

Hi Todd,

Do you think it would be to much to require that a full real name appears with each post? It has taken a lot of time for me to get to know some of the posters and since some of the people are changing their call name but not typing in their profile so it posts the name too., It really seemed to help to know who is chiming in. It also helps when we get to go to meets... or is that meats...

Hi Todd,

I like your web sight and I vote for Rotary. It comes easy for me as I have been a Rotarian for 25 years. The dues on your sight are much easier to come up with. Plan to go flying 4 time next week in my AAI modified RAF. I am a AAI dealer in Seattle and will be training our second CFI starting next week also. Hope the weather holds out. It is getting down to freezing tonight but should be in the 40,s and 50 next week. If it stays sunny it will be great!

R Coplen

Todd,

Now that I've thot about it for sevral days, I'm on bored with the "rotary" speling. I think speling is very impotent. We can't let are language just decend into the black whole of ignorince.

Good luck getting you're machine tuned up this weekend! Make sure you get all you're ossillations dampened, avoid percussion stall, and keep you're trustline sintered!

(Sorry, I didn't spel that wright..I meant your thurstline.)
