Is there a redrive out there that has less offset than a belt driven unit, but doesn't reverse the direction of rotation.

Thanks

Hello Ronnie
Marcotte makes a planatary redrive that spins the same way as the crank. The offset is 1.75 " They're in Quebec, I can find their Ph. number if you are interested. It's a very good product

Jerrie Barnett builds the "shoebox" gear drive which uses quick change gears. It has minimal offset and can be configured to rotate either direction.

Here are a couple pictures of a Barnett Shoebox with mounting plate for a 2.2 Sub. It has a 3.5" offset. Well built! I just mounted it on a 2.2 with low miles, wiring harness, ecu and is for sale if anyone is interested.

What reduction ratio is that drive ?
Can you run that drive with the ofset below the crank ?
Would you sell just the redrive ?
How much does it weight ?

Hi Ronnie,
Are you thinking of moving the engine up to change thrust line CoG or down and using shorter prop?

The New Gearbox is 1.999-1 or 2-1 as described in the instructions. The engine to Gearbox plate is 1/2" 6061-T6 and total weight of Drive adapter, Mounting plate and Gearbox is 37lb. The offset is 3.5" and can offset up or down. The prop rotation is the same as crank rotation. I have it installed on a lowtime 2.2 with wiring harness, speed sensor, ecu and want to sell the whole package for $3900. The price of the geardrive is more than that although it does me no good sitting on my shelf. A good deal if someone can use it.

I have found it is much better when running a 68" prop on an ej series Soob to have a redrive ratio of 2.2 or 2.3. I ran a RAF 2.37 and it was so quiet.

We have an Oz prop maker now that uses the wider chord at the root end as we used on our 2 blade timber props. These 3 blade ground adjustable composite props are so superior to the WD, Ivos etc in performance and noise reduction. I was using my cell the other day without having to reduce engine rpm. This guy also makes composite rotors that are well respected.

We also have an Oz extruded alloy rotor manufacturer whose product is also well respected.

We have a few clever Oz manufactures of props and rotors.

I am finding that between Oz and NZ I have access to as good a products as anywhere in the world for Firebird.

Aussie Paul. :)

Does Barnett still make these redrives, and is there any info about them on the web ( I can find anything )

Brian, I spoke with him a few months ago and he still produces them. You can contact Mr. Barnett at (530) 742-7416, Barnett Rotorcraft Company. I don't think he has a website or online presence and prefers the old school, in person, phone or snail mail, 4307 Olivehurst Ave. Dept. R, Olivehurst, California, 95961. He is a wealth of Gyro information and builds quality products. Hope this helps.

Hi Ronnie.

Neil also makes excellent redrives to the EJ22.
He produce them with prop shaft off-set either up or down.

www.autoflight.co.nz

Those are well known and good quality.

Like this, two EJU offset up gearboxes. ratios, 1.9 or 2.2 or 2.4 or 2.9 to one, But output turns opposite. Autoflight now has another gearbox type to add to it's range, a Heavy Duty Universal unit. Up to 300 hp @6000 rpm, offset can be up or down, same gearbox. This unit as per the standard Autoflight Universal is not sold with flywheel or starter but is supplied with the rubber drive. Ratios on this new type are 1.9 or 2.4 or 2.9 to one. Offet is 84mm.
