Greetings,

Well, the Dominator is coming along fairly well. I think all that's left to do is wiring (one weekend max), engine break-in, hang test, and mounting the blades. Then I guess I have to finish learning how to fly it :D

My training plan kinda went to hell time wise. I had figured on having my SP rating months ago, but the lack of availability of a second instructor to do the signoff has kept me from actually getting the rating. I'm sure it will all work out eventually, but the key word might be "eventually".

In the mean time, I'm probably going to skip ahead to the part where I get some dual in a Dominator with Rusty Nance (best option), or Dave Seace. Then I'll be able to fly it via my PPSEL when I get done proding the DAR to get him to leave out that item requiring a category/class rating. I wasn't going to renew my medical, but as it turns out, I need to go rescue a stranded RV-8 next weekend, so I have to anyway.

Cheers,
Rusty

What kind of polish is on that windshield? Can't even see it in those pics!

Ron,

I'm using the GPS as a windscreen :D

Actually, the GPS just fits behind the windscreen, and hides my view of the compass. That's fine, since I'd rather see the GPS anyway. It mounts with one of those RAM ball mounts on top of the glareshield. The plan is to use that ball to mount a camera instead of the GPS when I want to take some video. I'm afraid that nose is going to have too much shake though. We'll see.

Tim,

Thanks for the comments. Have you been flying your gyro much recently? The weather has been great, but I haven't seen Blake at all either. I taunt him via text message every chance I get though :boink:

Thanks Rob. I'm looking forward to flying it, but also to getting time to work on the single rotor engine project again. Shhhh, don't tell the Dominator, but I spent the afternoon re-welding my intake manifold :p

How's the rebuild process coming along?

Rusty,
I tried to fly on Saturday but it was too windy for my experience level. I went out this afternoon after work and flew for a half hour to test my in-flight trim adjuster. Works great.
