Hi Folks,

Here are three questions for folks who are flying Gyrobees or Honeybees.

1) Do you notice any P-factor due to corkscrewing effect of the propeller slipstream?
2) What type of tail do you have?
3) What size engine & prop do you have?

Thanks & Best Regards,

Gene
Gene,

Do you really mean P-Factor (http://www.av8n.com/how/htm/yaw.html#sec-p-factor)? Or did you mean Helical Propwash (http://www.av8n.com/how/htm/yaw.html#sec-helical-propwash)? Follow the links for the difference.

Don

Hi Don,

Thanks, I do mean Helical Propwash, and see that I should NOT have used the term P-factor. The “Pilot’s Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge” defines P-Factor as asymmetrical propeller loading usually occurring when the airplane is flown at a high angle of attack.

The handbook refers to Helical Propwash as Spiraling Slipstream. Either way, this is the effect I was interested in.

Regards,

Gene
