Remember the add, "Look up and live", that add applied to power lines but it looks as if sheds come into that category as well.

Read the NTSB report on this accident. He claims the young boy in the front seat caused the crash, and that he quickly maneuvered the helicopter away from the door and leveled the aircraft for landing....yah right! You maneuvered the helicopter away from the door using the inertia of the rotor striking it. Hopefully the NTSB didn't buy his fictional account of what happened.

Luckily for the NTSB the video tells the true story - plain old pilot error. Very lucky folks that day, including the cameraman...

According to the report they didn't buy it either.

Good NTSB report and analysis.

This is a traditional brain fart. It can happen to anyone.

Being too comfortable combined with an unusual situation or circumstance. [hanger door open]

I suspect that anyone old enough to be here has had several of them in various forms or another.....

Lucky no one got killed. Just a baddddddd day.

Looks to me like several "brain farts" after they hit the deck--no one seemed to make the connection between crashes and FIRE!! They certainly took there good old time clearing the fusalage-or what was.
