what was he doing so close to the hanger? I guss he did'nt want his pasengers to walk another 25yards or at lest the total length of the rotor system even thats to close in my opinion. cost him lots plus the lawsuite.

The guy came up with a creative story for the NTSB. Unfortunately they had the videotape. (In his defence, rationalization is a normal human impulse... I doubt he was consciously lying).

It's impossible to watch that without being impressed by the design of the R44. There was only one minor injury in that very violent prang. Wish all aircraft were as good as saving us from stupid pilot tricks.
