Would a 17' foot boat trailer be good to haul my 14' gyro?
What if I put planking down?
The tractor gyro could be loaded tail first, with the boat winch used on the tail wheel support, and the front wheels would roll right up to the fender. Width of trailer is 6'6" inside to 7'8" outside, and the width of my gyro gear is precisely 7 foot.
Since the weight will mostly be towards the back with the engine, the trailer would be set up great for towing, right?
What do y'all think?
I am bidding on a trailer on eBay for 450.00.......wish me luck

need picture's of both so as to have a better idea if possible. sounds ok just don't want to high center on a steep incline of have prop in the dirt as the tail comes up. to bad you can't try it before you buy it like the place advertises on tv. maytag.

I might add it may need the springs looked at for the softest ride it can be, dont let it get beat up.

A rudder towed backwards requires special protection -- especially a fabric covered one. With just a gust lock in place, it willl try hard to bend away from the wrong-way airflow. Shield the entire rudder from the airflow with an airdam or a rigid cover.
Tie the prop down or it'll windmill.
The whole machine will take a beating if you tow on the Interstates. The semi's rolling by will toss it around on the trailer.
An enclosed trailer really is much kinder to your craft if you're going any distance.

A friend of mine who built trailers recommended that the trailer be setup and dedicated for the gyro. Also when the gyro and all accessories were loaded that the trailer be at ~ 80% load capacity.
You can do this by pulling leaves from the spring pack so that the ride will be soft. I have also seen a couple with shocks mounted to damp out the bouncing.

Here is my two axle boat trailer that I am using,,,I have modified it,,,,to enclose the whole ting,,,,but left open is fine and works great,,,,many a gyro trailer is from a discarded boat trailer.
PS: I paid $100.00 but it needed some repairs to it.

Spencer,
You never load a trailer with more than 50% of it's weight on the back of the trailer, it will fishtail all over the road, 60% of the load must be on the tonque.
