Was he trying an airplane landing? Sure was alot of ground covered by the gyro. He can almost do a vertical descent to a no roll land. What happened.

It happened some time ago.
The thin crust on the mud fooled Matt and the front wheel dug in.
I just posted the link in another thread few minutes ago.

Looking at the video, I would guess by how deep the foot prints are, that the gyro touched down in an area of mud which had a layer of crust on top. It was probably not even near a hard landing, just the crust over the mud could not support even the static weight of a gyro and pilot.

Matt is one of my favorite pilots, next to Steve and Birdy.

Like you guys have said, he was trying to land thinking the surface was hard enough. It wasn't and the front wheel dug in and he flipped over the front. The soft ground also helped prevent any serious injuries. I corresponded with him awhile back. He's in the rebuilding stage.
