View Full Version : Warp Drives really are Warped?

I was installing the protective leading edge tape on the Prop I am using on my Dominator gyro Project today, I was looking down the blade and noticed the blade has a twist in it giving more pitch down near the hub than out at the tips.
I am sure this is okay, but for some reason I had thought Warp Drive props were non twisted with the same airfoil and profile from root to tip. Do I have a special prop or something?

You're running a one-bladed prop? I'd say that's special. What about the other blade(s)? They all the same?

Ron, they are all that way.

They make a tapered prop that gets smaller at the tip . But if it is a standard prop the blade crod is the same with some twist at the root. This is to give you more use of all of the blade. At the hub the blade is not close to the speed of sound but the tip is so the tip needs to be flater or it will stall. At the hub it can be pitched a lot more and not stall. In prop theory.

Yes Ken I got more than one blade, I got three to be exact. All look the same. And yes I know that it is common to have twist in a prop to have more pitch at the hub for the reasons Brent refered to, I just thought Warp Drive was not twisted

Ron, What prop was on the red Dom?

same kind, but I never paid it that much attention and never noticed if it was twisted or not.

As far as I know, Warp only makes one blade (for a 72" prop). They then cut them to length, unless you want whole ones.
