View Full Version : Tip vortex reduction?

Has anyone ever heard of a rotorcraft where the tip of the blade had a twist about its chord axis?
This twist would be in the opposite direction from that of the tip vortex and its intent would be to minimize the tip vortex.

Interesting idea. Got me also thinking about winglets at the tips of the rotor blades.
Would the tip winglets have a problem with the foward movement of the aircraft, causing a airflow end wise over the blade ?

This is the little information that I have been able to gather on the subject.
