PRA's unofficial, take no prisoners promoter, Chapter 25 prez, Mike McKiernan is looking for some creative person to suggest a slogan for PRA's 45th anniversary that will be celebrated at Mentone this year.

'45 and Still Alive' doesn't seem appropriate and sounds negative. So, what can we come up with?!!

Dean; I threw the logo idea at my wife Barbara.....she just immediately came up with...

"45 --- and Rotary High"

The more I think about it...the more I like it.

Hey, you guys are certainly creative! Keep thinking about this.

Mike M. doesn't visit here (to busy promoting PRA!) but I'll send him the link so he can see what you guys have come up with so far. I have no idea what he has in mind for the slogan. I hope some of you are sending him some picture candidates.

I have been talking with Martin Weaver about having the Light Sport Gyroplane Repairman's class at Mentone. It is a 16 hour class that gives you a certificate to inspect your ELSA gyroplane for it's annual condition inspection. The certficate is good for any ELSA gyroplane you own, now or in the future. You don't have to own a gyro to take the class. The sign-off is good for a ELSA gyro you may purchase later.

It will be the last Mentone I can convert existing, ilegal ultralights to certified ELSA aircraft.
I need to know if you think you might need our services. No committment.

Martin has a minimum number of students he has to meet to make it worthwhile to come up here.

OH!

You got my attention. Do we have a thread on this that tells the price and days?

gyroplanes

No, Marty did mention a price to me. I really don't remember what it was, but it was the same as the EAA's class or lower. Martin has approached Greg Gremminger about this so it can be included in convention scheduling. I think they plan to have the classes in the museum for 2 eight hour days before the convention (I think nights would be better, 4-12?)

Tom, I did not build my Twinstarr. Can I take this class and do my own inspections? If not. Can I get my Twinstarr LSA certified?

Unfortunately, if your twinnstar is already certified it can not be made ELSA nor will taking the classes allow you to do your own inspections.

Ironically, if you are flying illegal (no registration) you can go ELSA or EAB.

I just realized Mentone's only 7 hours away from me. I might attempt to get down there for the first weekend of August.

My question is... will there be some 45th Birthday cake to make the drive worth it? :whoo:

That's a good idea. We should do a birthday cleb.

I can't promise you a cake but I will give you a ride in my Twinstarr and buy you a beer at the end of the day! :D

Cripes.

The rappers of Compton got nothin' on your rhymes, home boys.

Let me try it in Victorian style.

As PRA turns Forty-Five
We honour Igor, Juan, and Ken
Our worldwide members daily strive
To keep the dream of flight alive --
The dream of these, and countless men

Though theirs, and other, hearts be still
We build on what they did and said
We use our heads, we use our skill
We work together with a will
We look ahead; we look ahead.

OK. Maybe elegiac is not the right tone for PRA. It was fun to write.

45 is a sapphire anniversary, is it not? (Is anybody a jeweler who would know that stuff?) Maybe we can do something with that.

45 is (or was?) a malt liquor, once favoured by the above-mentioned rappers and their peer group. Hmmmm... nope. Another bad idea.

cheers
