Hello everyone, My name is Ryan Blair From Sandoval IL. I really like this forum, I have been looking on it for a few days and I must say that there is a wealth of info here. I just signed up as a member yesterday and evidently posted on the wrong forum. My father is the new owner of snobird aircraft corp, and I must say we are both very exited about this venture. As many people have been asking, we will be starting production sping/summer 2007.
There will also be a larger horizontal stabilizer approx 8-9 sq ft. if there is anything else that you would like to know don't hessitate to E mail me or post a message I will try to check back daily.

Ryan, Light a fire under the old man. It's good to see an internet presence. I was afraid your dad would not warm up to a keyboard and miss many opportunities.
I have a guy looking for a SnoBird right now.
I wish Sandoval was closer.
Take good care of my "Baby"

I gotta say I am really impressed with the Snobird construction. Much of it just makes good, common sense. Being the only thing I've flown, it's my favorite :)

Ryan:
May I suggest that you guys do an analysis of thrustline placement and set up your HS "by the numbers"? Simply mounting a big one is shooting in the dark.
BTW, I did some business with Fred Gath, founder along with Hank Abbott of Snobird. Nice fellow. I bought Fred's old Air Command. In fact, it's parked out in my garage.

I wish we were ready to start building a few machines but untill we get our facilities completed and proper knowlege of how thease machines go together it will be a little while longer. Don't worry the fire is burning. Dad wont warm up to a PC that is why I am here. I will keep you posted on any developments

As you know the HS mounts amidst the rudder and the tail plane "if thats the right word" . I guess what I am trying to say is that if we go by the numbers and the numbers say that it needs to be 6 in lower and 10 sq ft then it will mean a total re-design of the tail section. which will be done if thats the way it has to be.

Ryan, I think Dougs comment was that the Snowbird gyro design is a slightly dated design and there are some improvements that could - SHOULD - be looked into as you guys tool up for production of new kits.
If you and your father are open to this idea, I am sure there are several people here on the forum that would offer to help you two come up with what needs to be done to make the Snowbird a better gyro than it was in the past.
Take care

We are definitly open to some ideas. Let me use this reply to appologize to doug. After reading back my quote I thought that I may have been slightly rude. You are very correct we do need to change quite a few things and I would appreciate any ideas. Feel free to post any of your ideas or you can E-mail me @ ryang1@frontiernet.net.

I always thought that Snowbird had lots of Following. But when we Lost Leroy it seemed like the Snowbird was done. My husbands Soma looks alot like a Snowbird if you ask me, but not many ask me so who knows. mj

MJ,
Did you forget about me?
I busted my butt for 4 years to produce SnoBirds right after I bought the company from Cindy Hardee.
Rick Marshall did a credible job of keeping the SnoBird name alive.
It was after Rick, that SnoBird slipped into obscurity.

Polilla,
Notice that the NEW owner of SnoBird hasn't posted on here in years (Dec 2006). I have heard that nothing has happened with the design in several years. This is sad, because there are still a lot of people interested in buying one.
The SnoBird documentation was second-to-none, and better than most certificated aircraft. This is also a shame, because the SnoBird was retooled to use the infamous Hirth engine, which made a good portion of the manuals and catalogs outdated. There are also CAD drawings for every part on each model. They spent a ton of money and did the project right (except for marketing and human relations)
I occasionally hear of a SnoBird Adventurer for sale. I will post here or contact you if I do.
