Guys and Gals
What if we add something to agregate value to our magazine? :typing:
DVD's, Cd's, booklets, etc.
In time we can have more subscriptions just for the add ons.
Also our own catalog with PRA gear and general stuff we buy in a monthly basis.
We alredy have the vehicle! :drum:
What we all think?
thanks

Heron, this is for you and all the others that keep making suggestions on how to improve the magazine.
You, I and everyone else can make a never ending list of things that could be done to improve the magazine. But, NOW LISTEN UP, until there is money available to bring back the color and add more pages none of this is going to happen. This particulary applies to the rest of your suggestions. Those suggestions fall in after the magazine.
It is possible (no guarantees!) that all of our suggestions would improve the membership numbers and the cash flow but this is a case of needing money to make money. So, we just have to keep grinding out the membership numbers until we reach a financial point where some of this can be afforded.

Sensei
Are you saying we should stop thinking about and give up trying or you want us to fork the means up to make it happen?
Maybe I should stop what I am doing and offer myself to work full time for the PRA and get 10% comission on what I bring in . . .no up front money from the PRA to start.
I still don't understand your thinking.
It still not enough what I have done?

Heron, what I'm saying is that until the membership climbs back to a point where the member's dues can support extra activity. then we are spinning our wheels if we try to do anything other than recruit new members.
There may come a time when revenue sources other than member's dues are large enough to be significant but I don't see this happening in the near future. You can promote all you want but the organization does not have money to invest in anything but survival at the moment. I haven't seen any suggestions to grow the PRA that didn't require seed money; money that PRA doesn't have. The best we can hope for at the moment is that the chapters, and individual, efforts to promote the organization result in membership growth.
There has been individual promotional activity since Mentone '06, one individual in particular, who has expended no small amount of money and more time than we had any right to expect. He has given us some tools to work with and is in the hunt for a grant.
We also have the PRA E-Alert that P. Plack provides. Iven Connary, a Forum member, has been hard at work bringing the PRA web site back to life. Duane Hunn, the new Mentone FBO, is serving as Mentone activity coordinator/promoter and he indicated to me that he wants to make the airport a year around revenue generator. And we have a couple of chapters that have been revived and one that has rejoined us so things are looking up. We just need to keep applying pressure to the situation and be thankful for small gains when we get them and not fret that things aren't moving as fast as we would like.

Heron,
I envision a time in the not too distant future when a DVD of the previous year's fly-ins are included in the first PRA issue of the year. Don't know how far away that is but it's something I plan on working towards.

Ok, lets spell it slowly
P-R-E-P-A-I-D!
Is it slow enough for you?
I have a CD, how many want one?
Pay by credicard, paypal, whatever . . .I will send with your next issue!
WE do have a merchant account don't we?
To print a page of stuff: donated, consigned, etc like a small catalog will bring in revenue. Small cost.
Vouchers for introductory lessons one can give as Christmass gift, minimal cost.
The buying power of 1.000 + families is an asset PRA has not used yet (that I know off)
C'mon . . .
