Cemetery Offers Coffin With Panic Button

A cemetery in Santiago, Chile is offering its clients coffins with a sensor that detects any movement inside them after they have been buried.

According to the Camino a Canaan cemetery the sensor attached to the coffin is to avoid anyone being buried alive.

Spokesperson for the cemetery told La Cuarta: "We want to be pioneers and avoid catalepsy cases, in which a person gets completely paralysed for a few hours and ends up buried as if they were dead.

"We want families to rest assured that if a case like this
ever happens their loved ones will be immediately rescued."

There were numerious devices created for this purpose in the U.S. during the 19th century. Seems it happened more than once that a corpse woke up before being buried. :eek: (per the History or Discovery channel)

I think with the current medical technology, plus embalming. Once your declared dead. You'll stay that way. :D

I was declared dead because there was no brain activity after I took a tumble at Bonniville. My friend tried to explain that it was common for me to not have brain activity, but they wouldn't listen. It was a teaching hospital and they were doing what they call proticall. When one of the students drilled a hole in my head to releive the presure of a subdural hematoma. I woke up in a very bad mood, common with a head injury, and grabed the poor student around the neck and threatened him and told him to not ever do that again. I caught a flight home under my own power four days later. That is why they call it practicing medicine. I want to be creamated so the button wouldn't do me much good.

I had to fight with the FAA for a year and a half and take a medical check ride for demonstrated ability to get my medical. The regonal flight surgeon was not comfortable with a blind helicopter pilot. But all is well now and I have my SODA.

I am glad vance you are OK and you probably scrae the Sh111 of the guy. I tell every body thta if they see me spleeping tu put a corona in my mouth just incase
