I just saw a short piece about this on NY Fox News . They showed some footage of the Magni gyro taking off and got in a few comments about James Bond.
It always gets my attention when a gyro shows up on the news :D

I saw it 3 or 4 times on the Weather Channel this morning.
Yesterday our PRA Chapter bought the Global Eagle DVD and sponsored 4 miles of Barry's trip. The total cost was under $60.00. I hope we set a precedent, I'd like to see every chapter (and the PRA) sponsor some of Barry's trip.
The DVD is well made and well worth the money.
Good luck Barry.

Great Idea,
I bought the lighter ( really cool ) and my girlfriend bought some miles in Germany.
I will bring up the idea at the next Chapter 34 meeting.

Guys, This has to be the most exciting thing for the gyro community since Amelia flew one.
I proposed that our PRA Chapter offer to help by hosting the visit if it was on Barry's proposed flight path across the USA.
It was warmly received by our club and now offers lodging, fuel food, a hangar, tools and local publicity.
I posted this offer on the Global Eagle Web Site message center. I received an answer that this is exactly what they had hoped for, that gyroplane enthusiasts would welcome and support them (for exact quote visit the message board, and, while you are there , make an offer from your club!)
If Barry can pass our way, I will enlist the local chamber of Commerce to make his stay a memorable one.
OH YES ! the update...Barry has made it across the Alps and is now at the Magni factory

The Global Eagle Expedition has reached Bahrain, tomorrow Barry will depart for Abu Dhabi, UAE then on to Pakistan. All tolled Barry has flown 3019 miles (4860km)to date.
I noticed that PRA Chapter 5 has joined Chapter 18 in offering to host a visit during the transit across America. Chapter 5 is located in northern California and has offered the Nut Tree airport and their hospitality to the expedition's success.
I have been in contact with the Global Eagle team concerning a possible visit to the PRA Convention in Mentone this July. If it fits their schedule they have shown considerable enthusiasm for all three venues.
I urge all PRA chapters to consider hosting the expedition. It's not to late to plan a fund raiser as well.
The expedition is a charitable event, largely privately funded and will do more for sport gyroplanes then we can ever imagine should it be completed successfully.
